"I valued very early supporting poor children because that was like my life. When you’ve been discriminated against yourself you hate discrimination against others. It’s that simple.”(Dr. Edward Zigler)

“Only when professionals understand culturally sensitive care and are in close communication with families can they know how to work toward positive outcomes for children’s identity, sense of belonging, and cultural competence.” (Gonzalez-Mena, J., 2001)

Personal Childhood Web

These are the main people that have nurtured and cared about me my whole life. Below is a picture of me and my father on my wedding day. :) My dad has been a MAJOR influence on my life. He has made me into the person I am today. Words cannot really express the impact that he has had on my life. He has always put me and my brother first, making me feel as though I will also ways be his little girl. As an adult I continue to learn things from him, as he is great man. He is always there when I need him and this makes me feel special... Love my daddy ;)

The beautiful woman in the middle is my mother. This photo was taken at my daughter's 2nd birthday party. Of course along with carrying and giving birth to me, she has nurtured me. She seems to understand my feelings and I don’t have to explain too much because mama always knows... Lol...  She has also played a HUGE role in my life. She has always been there for me. Whether needing a shoulder to cry on or encouragement. She has always encouraged me to be the best I can be; and that we (me and my brother) can accomplish anything. Love her for that!

The guy on the right side of my mother is my big brother. He has always taken the time to teach me things my whole life. He has always been there for me; from the time I entered the world and still 31 years later. He is one of my best friends and a great person. He has accomplished so much and I have always looked up to him for inspiration. He is one of the reasons I decided to continue my education and pursue a career in early childhood.:)

This is my favorite children's book! It's more than a children's book to me. For me it describes all the things that moving on and trying new things entails. I think that even as an adult we all can relate to this story. We all have to try new things and build new relationships that can be scary to us; but in the end we all have to find out what is best for us. Whether it is moving away from home or your child gaining more independence. Change is inevitable for all of us and it's alright to let go...:)

"It's easier to build strong Children than to repair broken Men."

Frederick Douglass

For me this is an important statement pertaining to childhood. In order to be a strong adult it begins with childhood. Being a  positive role model and educator to children will affect the future of everything.
Hello,
This is a picture of me and my daughter after her 2nd birthday party. :)
My daughter is my motivation to breathe.. Lol its crazy the impact of being a parent can have on you.

This a picture of me and my daughter last month after her 2nd birthday celebration. She had a really good time and I wanted to have picture of me and her by ourselves. I feel like I spend so much time behind the camera that she may want to know that sometimes we took pictures together. Lol, anyway she is the reason I breathe, for Jayleen.:)
